Robert Hoban, Esq., Founding member and General Manager, Hoban Law Group
Bob is an AV® Preeminent™ rated attorney and seasoned commercial practitioner. His law firm represents the largest players in the marijuana industry across thirteen states and many of the nation’s largest hemp producers, suppliers, and manufacturers. Bob is recognized as one of the leading commercial hemp/cannabis practitioners nationwide. He was identified as one of the, “Five Pot Lawyers to Watch in 2015” by MarijuanaStocks.com Bob is a member of the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s Hemp Regulation Advisory Committee. He is a founding Board Member for the National Cannabis Chamber of Commerce. Bob has litigated nearly every aspect of Colorado’s Marijuana Code and closed over 450 marijuana-related business transactions across the country.
Hoban Law Group is currently before the 9th Circuit Court seeking action to clarify the DEA's continuous designation of CBD as a controlled-substance under schedule one. Hoban is also a professor at the University of Denver in the Law and Society Program and regularly instructs regarding cannabis and hemp related legal and policy topics. He also teaches government regulations and public policy courses. In 2014, Bob led a research practicum concerning the efficacy of marijuana regulation; the first of its kind in the U.S. In September, 2015, Bob was hired by the University College of Professional and Continuing Studies at D.U. to develop and instruct medical marijuana and related regulatory courses in its Healthcare Leadership graduate program. He will instruct a research practicum in Winter 2016 concerning the policy and regulatory framework of industrial hemp. Because of this work, Mr. Hoban has worked with numerous state, local and international governments in developing both marijuana and industrial hemp regulations.
Mason Tvert, V.P., Public Relations and Communications
Mason Tvert is vice president of public relations and communications at VS Strategies. He co-directed the successful Amendment 64 campaign in Colorado, and he co-founded and directed Safer Alternative For Enjoyable Recreation (SAFER), which laid much of the groundwork for the victory. Mason previously served as director of communications for the Marijuana Policy Project, where he worked on a variety of federal, state, and local marijuana policy reform efforts, including several successful ballot initiative and legislative advocacy campaigns. He is a co-author of the book "Marijuana is Safer: So why are we driving people to drink?" and he frequently appears in the media discussing cannabis and cannabis policy.
